Out of the underground dance clubs on the South Side of Chicago, a group of friends turn a new sound into a global movement.

“No one man owns house…once you enter my house, it then becomes our house and our house music.”

~Chuck Roberts

HOUSE MUSIC 40 at NASCAR Chicago Receives A Glowing Review in the Chicago Sun-Times

Chicago house musicians take over NASCAR Chicago with joyful set, tribute to Chuck Roberts

For nearly two hours, Festival Field grooved as attendees danced to classics sounds of the homegrown genre.

By  Erica Thompson

At the start of Saturday morning’s House Music 40 Showcase at NASCAR Chicago Street Race, an iconic voice bellowed into Festival Field: “This is my house!”

The declaration came from the late Chuck “The Voice” Roberts, who appeared in video footage to deliver his famous “sermon,” sampled by DJs around the world. And for nearly two hours, the area transformed into the house that Roberts and other legendary singers and DJs built, as concertgoers danced to classic, joyful tunes from the homegrown genre.

House Music 40 + D’lectable Music to collaborate with the CTA, Rebuild Foundation

House Music 40 is proud to announce our collaboration with "Elevate Sound" at the CTA Red Line 95th St Station on Fridays from 3-6 PM).

AESOP (An Extended Song of Our People), built in cooperation with Theaster Gates, the Rebuild Foundation, and the CTA, is a DJ booth space that hosts local DJs at the 95th Street train station on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. Its goal is to spread arts and music in public spaces on the South Side as part of the CTA's public art program.

On Fridays, the stage is set and programmed by DJ Lady D @djladyd and D'lectable Music to ELEVATE SOUND and highlight House Music 40. This is more than just a music event-it's a movement. We're grateful to be in collaboration with the city's largest institutions to shine a light on House music and raise funds for ailing community members. Please join us in spreading love through house music, July through October 2024, with the Chicago Transit Authority/CTA.

We're kicking off the program in July with DJ John Simmons, a hometown hero with a deep Chicago DJ pedigree. We're grateful for the community's support as Simmons leads the charge all of July (7/12, 7/19, 7/26). Stop in the station, get your groove on, and remember to donate to House Music 40. DJs will change monthly, so keep an eye on this space for updates.
