The Birthplace of House Music * Celebrates a Milestone *
Why do we celebrate?
A youth-led movement out of Chicago, driven by the feeling and style of a new, raw, collaborative dance genre based on disco’s BPMs and soulful r&b, with a dash of funk, and gospel’s electricity, stirred in a pot of electronically cooked beats and melodies.
And they called it: HOUSE.
The music had been flourishing on radio mix shows and in the underground on reel-to-reel & cassette tapes…
until it made its way to vinyl.
The year was 1984.
